Mail-in Repairs

(make sure you include all information specified below to avoid unnecesary costs)

Please do not use post-it notes or any kind of self-stick notes when sending your information!! Also, don't use a napkin, don't use the back of a shoe box, etc. If you can't afford to put your information on to a piece of normal-sized, clean  paper, then you can't afford to have me fix your radio. If I have to take time and re-write your info onto a normal piece of paper that can be properly filed, I WILL charge you an additional fee, the amount of which will be determined by my level of frustration.

Please read entire page before emailing questions.

NOTES: ALL radios sent in for repair and found to have disabled or mis-adjusted AMC/ALC circuits, or improper modification of AM regulator circuits, will have the improper modifications removed. If you have a "clipped" radio , and want it to stay clipped, send it to someone else!! We do NOT allow ANY radio to leave our shop in an improperly-modified condition. This policy is NOT negotiable. Click here for more specific information on this policy. This does not apply to 10-meter conversions, clarifier mods, or channel modifications.

Improper modifications include disabled AMC circuits, disabled ALC circuits, most so-called "swing kits" or "mod kits" (Diodes inserted at R238 on Galaxy/Connex chassis radios are generally ok), and any modifications found to introduce either audio or RF distortion. NPC mods done correctly are generally ok (I don't care for them personally), assuming the AMC circuitry is operating properly.

Please contact us before shipping your radio to make sure we are currently accepting mail-in work, and to make sure we service your particular equipment. If you ship in a radio for service before emailing as and receiving confirmation that we are currently accepting mail-ins, your radio may end up sitting untouched for an extended period of time, possibly accumulating storage fees if our storage space is severely limted (it often is). If a radio for which we do not offer service is sent in, it will be shipped back at your expense with no service performed. We do not handle service of any Magnum brand radio. Please visit http://www.cbshopwhitelist.com to find a Magnum service center.

We use email for invoicing, so if you do not have a valid email address, ask a friend or relative to help you. Payment options are either Paypal (preferred and fastest method), or a US Postal money order. No other money order types are accepted.

Payments are due within thirty days of being billed. If payment is not received within thirty days, your item will be put out for sale to recover the cost of repair.

If you have paid your bill but have chosen to pick the radio up in person, you have thirty days from the time the bill is paid to pick up your item. If it is NOT picked up within thirty days, we will assume you have abandoned it, and it will become DTB Radio's property. Exceptions will be made on an individual basis, but it is up to YOU to contact us and ask for extensions.

Please read our warranty policy page for other details.

Return shipping is generally billed in $5.00 increments. If you wish to provide a return shipping label, your bill from us will be for services rendered only. Return shipping labels MUST be either USPS, FedEx, or UPS, pre-paid and pre-printed.

Shipping insurance is available upon request. We normally ship without insurance, so make sure you request insurance if you want it added to the shipping.

Information that must be included with the radio:

Any radios sent in for repair must include a note with the following information:

  • Date
  • Full Name
  • Shipping address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Make and model of radio with serial number
  • Details of the radio's problems, and/or details of any modifications desired.

If the above information is not provided WITH the radio , we will assume that you want all problems seen fixed, and all possible modifications done to the radio. You will then be billed accordingly. In other words, make sure you specify what you need or we will assume you need/want everything.

You may use the shipper of your choice to send us your radio. Unless a printed, prepaid return shipping label is included with your radio, the choice of return shipper is at our discretion. USPS and UPS are our primary carriers. A hand-written address label and a bunch of stamps is NOT a printed and pre-paid return label, and will be returned to you unused (yes, someone actually did that).

If you have any questions, please use the email address shown on our contact page.
